36 Hole Stroke Competition at Gailes Links

Sunday 28th April 2024

In 1892 the Edward family, who were well known Glasgow jewellers, presented this magnificent trophy for amateur competition. It was played at various venues in the West of Scotland, but in 1927 the Edward family asked Glasgow Golf Club if they would host it annually at Gailes Links in Ayrshire. The Club agreed and the Edward Trophy has been played at Gailes since 1928 and continues to attract a top home and international field.

The Edward Trophy is open to all male golfers who are members of Scottish Golf affiliated clubs or an affiliated club in their home country, are of an amateur status as defined by R&A Rules Limited and in possession of a current WHS handicap index of NOT MORE THAN 2. The field will consist of 72 players. In the event of being oversubscribed the Club reserves the right to reduce the number by ballot based on Handicap Index. The winner will have their name inscribed on the trophy, which will be retained by Glasgow Golf Club, and will receive a suitably engraved silver medal. Click here for further information.
